AppsFlyer vs Adjust vs Branch
Three Different Philosophies, One Category
AppsFlyer, Adjust, and Branch all solve mobile attribution, but they grew from different starting points that still shape their strengths. AppsFlyer built the deepest ad-network integration ecosystem and leans into paid media measurement at scale. Adjust emphasizes fraud prevention and a clean, lightweight SDK footprint, historically popular with gaming and performance-marketing-heavy apps. Branch started from deep linking (its core original product) and web-to-app continuity, and it remains the strongest option when a large share of your growth comes from the mobile web rather than paid app-install campaigns.
| Dimension | AppsFlyer | Adjust | Branch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core strength | Breadth of ad-network partner integrations | Fraud detection (Unbotify), lean SDK | Deep linking, web-to-app journeys, SEO-indexable links |
| Pricing model | Per non-organic attributed install (MAU tiers) | Per attributed install, similar tiering | Often per MAU / link usage, flexible for link-heavy use cases |
| Deep linking maturity | Strong (OneLink) | Good | Best-in-class (original product focus) |
| Fraud protection | Protect360 add-on | Built-in, strong reputation | Available, less of a headline feature |
| Best fit | Enterprise apps running many simultaneous ad networks | Performance marketers prioritizing fraud filtering | Apps with heavy web/app cross-traffic, content/referral sharing |
Deep Linking: Branch's Historical Edge
Branch's links are designed to work identically whether tapped from a text message, a web page, a QR code, or a social post — routing to the app if installed, deferring the destination through install if not, and falling back gracefully to a web page otherwise. AppsFlyer's OneLink and Adjust's equivalent have closed much of this gap, but Branch links are still commonly preferred for referral programs, SMS-based growth loops, and cases where the same link needs to work across many surfaces without per-surface configuration. If your growth strategy depends heavily on peer-to-peer sharing (referral codes, invite links), this matters more than the attribution reporting itself.
Switching Costs Are Real
Pricing Structure Nuances
All three charge primarily on non-organic attributed installs or monthly active users, but the tiering and definitions differ enough to matter at scale. AppsFlyer's classic model bills per attributed install, which can get expensive fast for apps running many concurrent networks with high install volume. Adjust and Branch both increasingly push toward MAU-based or hybrid pricing, which can be cheaper for apps with high installs but lower paid-user retention. Always negotiate based on your actual blended install volume and MAU, not list pricing — enterprise discounts on these platforms are substantial and expected.

});Fraud Prevention Approaches
Mobile ad fraud (click injection, click flooding, device farms, SDK spoofing) is material enough in some verticals — gaming especially — to be a primary selection criterion. Adjust's reputation for fraud detection out of the box, versus AppsFlyer's Protect360 as a clearly separated paid add-on, means budget-constrained teams sometimes get materially different fraud coverage depending on which platform they default to and whether they pay for the upgrade.
Data Access and SKAN Reporting
Post-ATT, all three MMPs built SKAdNetwork aggregation dashboards to decode Apple's conversion-value postbacks into readable campaign performance. Functionally they converge here — the differentiator is less the SKAN dashboard itself and more each platform's recommended conversion-value schema modeling tools (helping you pack install-time and post-install signals into Apple's limited 6-bit value) and how well that integrates with your existing event taxonomy.

What's Next?
Whichever MMP you choose, iOS attribution now runs through Apple's own constrained postback system rather than through SDK-level device matching, which is worth understanding in detail since it caps what any MMP can actually report.
